New Language Requirements for Taking Real Estate Courses
Quick Pass Master School is here to help students of all backgrounds pass their UBC courses and exams, allowing them to become licensed realtors faster! This includes offering the help you need to pass your English language proficiency courses.
As of September 2017, the English language testing requirements for obtaining a Real Estate or Rental Management course have become considerably tougher. Instead of the old LPI test, going forward students will have to pass the CELPIP-G language tests. The language test is no longer only a written test, and requires mastery of spoken language as well. This can, therefore, be much more difficult for non-native students.
The CELPIP-G test covers four distinct areas:
Each section is graded on a 12-point scale, and a prospective realtor must receive a grade of at least 7 on all sections to pass the test and be approved for their pre-license.
Fortunately, the Quick Pass Master School is here to help! We have full-time CELPIP English tutors on staff that can help students improve their language proficiency. We are adjusting our tutoring courses to place greater emphasis on spoken language, both listening and speaking. These tutorials are intended primarily for those who speak English as a second language, but we are glad to help anyone who needs assistance improving their English skills.
Mortgage Broker Course Has Different Requirements
At this time, the above information only applies to the Real Estate and Rental Management courses. If you are solely taking the courses and exams to become a Mortgage Broker, than the older test standards – based on the LPI test – still apply. Please read this article for information on LPI testing standards.
