You’ve Gotten Your Real Estate License in BC – Now What?

For many people, getting their BC real estate license in Vancouver is one of the proudest and most important days of their lives. Becoming a real estate agent means a new beginning, a new opportunity to improve the lives of yourself and your family in a field that’s booming!

However, getting your real estate license in BC is just that – a beginning. For many budding agents, the real question is “What happens next?” Actually, getting ahead in real estate can be tricky, and requires a lot of smart planning – particularly in the first months and years.

Here are a few tips from our team at Quick Pass Master to help you truly get your career underway.

Four Tips for Newly-Licensed BC Real Estate Agents

  1. Learn the basics of marketing, particularly online marketing

A young real estate agent succeeds or fails on the basis of their ability to self-market. In today’s business world, that mostly means online marketing. You need a website. You need social media accounts. You need listings in major business directories like Yelp and Google Local.

Take some time to study up on content marketing, inbound marketing, and SEO. Use those skills to drive traffic to your online outlets and get new leads.

  1. Never miss an opportunity to network

Online marketing can take you far, but it’s not the whole picture. You also need to spend plenty of face time with potential prospects, as well as your fellow agents. The business is competitive, to be sure, but it’s not cutthroat. Knowing other real estate agents and being able to work alongside them can bring you plenty of benefits down the line.

Also, attend plenty of meetings, conferences, and other events that could put you in touch with potential allies or clients.

  1. Always have your business cards on you. Always.

It doesn’t matter if it’s midnight and you’re just making a quick run to the convenience store – you never know when you might run into someone who’s looking to buy or sell property. Your business cards should never be out of reach, no matter where you are or what time it is.

  1. Collect contact information

Whenever you meet a potential lead, always try to get their phone number or email address. Then be proactive! Don’t wait for them to call you. Look for potential opportunities they might be interested in, then contact them.
