This is what it’s all been leading up to. If you want to become a real estate agent in British Columbia, there’s only one way to do it: by passing the official exam at the end of the (RECBC) real estate licensing course. Weeks, months, or even years of study all lead up to a single exam that determines whether you continue with your new career – or are stuck going back to the classroom.
Of course, before the exam can happen, you need to handle the logistics of signing up and making it to the exam location. Here are answers to some of the most common questions about exam logistics.
Answering Common Questions About the (RECBC) Real Estate Course Exam
-
When can I take the Real Estate Council of BC exam in 2019-2020?
Currently, UBC is the only host in BC and has announced four scheduled test dates in the upcoming 12 months:
- December 5, 2019
- February 13, 2020
- April 15, 2020
- June 18, 2020
In all likelihood, there will be at least one more test date towards the end of 2020, but UBC doesn’t announce the dates more than a year ahead of time. Either way, if you’re currently taking the real estate licensing course, these ate the dates to keep in mind.
-
When should I sign up for exams?
You can sign up for any exam date and location which has been announced, but it must be at least 30 days ahead of time. So, you probably want to register sooner, rather than later, to make sure you get your preferred testing date and location.
-
Where in BC can I take the test?
UBC has numerous official testing centers across British Columbia. These include:
- Campbell River, BC
- Castlegar, BC
- Dawson Creek, BC
- Fort Nelson, BC
- Fort St. John, BC
- Kamloops, BC
- Kelowna, BC
- Langley, BC
- Nanaimo, BC
- Port Hardy, BC
- Prince George, BC
- Powell River, BC
- Sechelt, BC
- Smithers, BC
- Terrace, BC
- Vancouver, BC
- Victoria, BC
- Williams Lake, BC
-
What if I live far away from a testing center?
If you live more than 100km from the nearest official testing center, you can contact UBC and request a special center be set up closer to you. However, this does incur a fee of $200 beyond your regular course fees.
-
If I fail the exam, can I retake it?
Yes, but you have to wait at least 90 days before retaking the test. In practice, this usually means you can only attempt every other testing date.
