If you’re looking for a new career, there are endless opportunities for growth and success as a real estate agent. Better yet, it’s a field that almost anyone can potentially move into. As long as you’re over 18 and have a high school degree (or equivalent), you can start taking the UBC real estate course in Vancouver to prepare for your new career.
However, that real estate course can be a major hurdle for a lot of people! Not only is the course itself difficult, but you then have to pass a huge final exam. Don’t pass the exam, and you can’t get your starter real estate license. But don’t worry, we’re here to help!
You can check out our full guide to the UBC Vancouver real estate course, but here are some of the most important things to know.
What to Know About the UBC Real Estate Course in Vancouver
When you sign up for the UBC real estate course (through their Sauder School of Business), you have one year to complete your coursework and successfully pass the test. Much of this is done at your own pace, but you can’t drag your feet. A lot of people have difficulty passing in the time provided!
One big issue here is that if you fail the final exam, you have to wait at least 90 days before you can take it again. So, a smart student will manage their time so they’re taking the exam at least three months before their year is up, so they have a chance to retake the exam if necessary.
Before taking the exam, you’ll have to do a fair amount of coursework. There are twenty major assignments, each with twenty problems. All of them have to be completed -and passed- before you’re allowed to sit for the final exam. Fortunately, you have leeway here. A passing score is only 13/20, or 65%, so it’s not too difficult.
The exam itself is another matter, however. It’s 100 questions long and requires a 70/100 score to pass. On top of that, you also have to pass a rigorous language proficiency exam! It will take a lot of preparation to pass.
